Friday Feeling: Liebster Award

Liebster Award

Welcome to my first #FridayFeeling post in a while! The other day I was nominated for a blogger award called the “Liebster Award”! This award is given by bloggers to bloggers. It’s basically a recognition by your fellow blogging community that you’re an inspirational or cool blogger. It’s also a way for bloggers to discover other bloggers.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I’ve been pretty busy this week. Every single day I’ve been working on growing my following and engaging with other bloggers, writers, and creators. I’ve met a lot of new bloggers this week and one of them, Cristal (from Family With a Budget blog), nominated me for this award!

So if you’re reading this Cristal, thank you! It’s nice to know that people notice what you’re doing and to be recognized for what you’re doing too.

There are rules to this award/nomination. A blogger who is nominated has to, #1. Acknowledge the blog that nominated you (done and done!), #2. Answer 11 questions that the nominator gives you (later in this post), #3. Nominate 11 more blogs and notify them (read on), and #4. Give those bloggers 11 questions to answer.

So, HERE GOES:

Here are my questions and answers:

Where do you blog from? I blog from Denton, TX. I was born and raised in Fort Worth and moved to Denton for college. I stayed here after I graduated and I love this cute little college town!

Why did you start blogging? I started blogging because I have a lot of thoughts in my head and I want to tell them to the world. As a journalism major in college, I had to make several blogs and write blog posts for a lot of my classes. I always wanted to create a blog that was all my own but didn’t have much extra time in college to devote to personal blogging. A few months after I graduated, I created Curiosity & Grace as a place to share my thoughts with the world!

What post are you most proud of? My blog is pretty new so I don’t have a lot of posts yet. But the post I’m most proud of is my review/discussion of the book ‘Searching for Sunday’ by Rachel Held Evans. Rachel is a faith/culture blogger and writer and this book chronicles her journey from doubting her faith to finding it again. I put a lot of thought into my post about the book and really poured my heart out!

What are your blogging goals? My blogging goals are to stay consistent and motivated. I’m aiming to have at least one new post each week (on Mondays). Every now and then I’ll have two posts a week (#FridayFeeling posts). I always aim to stay motivated. My first go at this blog was unsuccessful because I lost motivation quickly. This time I’m seeking out inspiration and following people who give me fresh ideas!

What’s one thing you’ve learned since you started blogging? I’ve learned that blogging is hard work. It may not seem like it, but it takes a lot of time. You have to plan ahead if you want to keep with it. You have to set aside time to writing posts and brainstorm to come up with post ideas. But the thing that actually takes the most time, at least for me, is promoting my blog. I spend most of time following people on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest and creating posts for those platforms. I don’t want my following to remain stagnant or my blog won’t be succesful, so I’m always looking for things to post to my Insta story, things to tweet to my followers and content to pin.

What inspires your blog posts? Honestly, a lot of things. I’m inspired by the things I’m passionate about: Jesus, crafting, pop culture, sexual assault awareness. But I also find inspiration from other bloggers. I might see a post that someone else wrote that will give me an idea for something I could write. That’s why it’s important to be engaged and follow people who blog about things similar to what you blog about.

What’s your favorite vacation destination? I went to Washington DC last year and I absolutely loved it. The city is so rich with history and visiting museums is one of my favorite things to do (though I don’t get to do it often). I especially loved the relatively new ‘Newseum’ (the journalism major in me had a field day).

What do you blog about? I blog about a lot of different stuff and don’t have a specific niche. I write about crafting, pop culture/feminism, faith, and travel. I usually just describe myself as a general lifestyle blogger since I touch on a lot of different topics!

What social media platform do you use most? Surprisingly (at least to me), nowadays I use Twitter the most. I’ve been starting to grow a decent following on Twitter and have started scheduling several posts a day on the platform. Twitter is where I was nominated for this award, after all, and I’ve found and met so many awesome bloggers through Twitter!

Long term blog goals? My long-term goals for this blog are to, like my general goals from above, keep consistency and motivation. I also hope to possibly earn some income from this blog. Who knows if I’ll ever get to that point, though. But at the end of the day, I just want to write and share my thoughts with anyone who will listen!

What’s one thing you can’t live without? One thing I can’t live without is coffee. I would like to say I’m not addicted but I definitely have at least one cup a day. It’s pretty cliché, but I need me a cup of joe every day!

Here are my nominees: Emma Rollason (@emrollason), Maud (@blog_mpp), Maddie (@TigerLilyDiary), Stephanie (@steph_vivienne), Kirsty (@astoldbykirstyx), Beth (@bethanysandland), Cat (@moreaboutcat), Jennifer Aguilar (@MakinLifePretty), Trinity (@TYM_CaraVH), Steff B (@steffs_journey), and Hannah (@HannahsDiaries)!

And finally, here are 11 questions for my blog nominees to answer (and yes, I’m stealing some from Cristal because I’m curious to see what my nominees say!):
